The only cylinder vacuum with a Dyson digital motor

Seven years in development, the Dyson digital motor V4 is one of the world’s smallest fully-integrated 1050W motors. By integrating its mechanical, electrical and aerodynamic systems, Dyson engineers have created an efficient, power-dense package with a diameter of just 85mm. DC48 has only been made possible by the development of this motor.

The latest turbine head with carbon fibre filaments

The floor tool has been re-engineered to improve pick-up and sound quality, and reduce weight. Simplified airways decrease noise levels and a self-tightening mechanism keeps the brush bar stable. A dust capture channel prevents dirt from escaping back to the floor, increasing pick-up. The new configuration of carbon fibre filaments and nylon brushes removes fine dust from hard floors and ground-in dirt from carpets.

Ball™ technology

Key components engineered within our smallest ball yet. Ball™ technology has been made possible with DC48 because of the small size of the Dyson digital motor V4. Its small size allows it to fit inside a ball that is just 200mm in diameter. DC48 turns on the spot, providing enhanced manoeuvrability from a machine with a small overall footprint. The introduction of the ball has also allowed engineers to reposition the hose centrally at the base of the bin, leading to a more balanced chassis arrangement. It utilises an articulating hose cuff, which rotates through 90° to control how the machine moves. This enables it to steer around obstacles and follow the user around the room, reducing collisions and increasing stability.

ボールテクノロジー
Radial Root Cyclone™ technology

Dyson has been continually refining cyclone vacuum technology since inventing it more than 20 years ago. Reconfigured air channels and improved flow efficiency reduce turbulence and preserve air pressure, so the inner cyclones can extract more microscopic particles. Dyson engineers have also made many iterative changes to reduce sound levels and improve sound quality within the cyclones.

Acoustic engineering

Acoustics are at the heart of the Dyson design process. Improvements have been made to the DC48 ball, cyclones and floor tools to reduce sound levels and improve sound quality. The small size and power density of the Dyson digital motor V4 made these changes possible.
