Radial Root Cyclone™ technology

Conventional vacuum cleaners rely on bags to trap dust and dirt. But when you start to use some bagged machines, dust can clog the tiny holes in the bag. Some ordinary bagless vacuum cleaners work in a similar way. They use a central filter to trap fine dust, which can clog too. Suction drops, leaving dust and dirt behind in your home.

Dyson's patented cyclone technology captures more dirt than any other cyclone. In Radial Root Cyclone™ technology remodelled airflows maximise suction power. Improved flow efficiency reduces turbulence and preserves air pressure, so more microscopic particles are extracted by the inner cyclones. These refinements help remove more dust, allergens and pet hair from the home.

The brush bars of most vacuums only have nylon bristles to clean different surfaces. These are not as effective on hard floors, where fine dust can be left behind. The Dyson Carbon fibre floor tool has both nylon bristles and brushes made from pure carbon fiber – selected for its anti-static properties. The carbon fiber brushes reduce static build-up on hard floors to remove fine dust, and the stiff nylon bristles remove ground-in dirt from carpets.

Compact and light to pull

The ball has a smooth surface with low friction bearings, so DC47 is light to pull across different floor surfaces. It’s also light to carry, with a bodyweight of approximately 4kg.

Reduced noise

The ball houses many of the key vacuum components including the motor, and has been engineered to suppress noise and improve the sound quality produced by the machine. Vibration isolation mounts suspend the motor and its housing, so less motor noise and fewer vibrations are transmitted. The lifetime washable filter surrounds the motor and acts as an extra barrier for absorbing sound. Large open cell material within the ball helps to slow down and quieten expelled air.

Ball™ technology

Conventional cylinder vacuums with fixed wheels or castors can be awkward – heavy to pull, head the wrong way and collide with obstacles. With Ball™ technology, DC47 turns on the spot. It has a central steering mechanism for more accurate steering. The pivot point is located near the centre of the machine, enabling it to make tighter turning circles and more easily follow the user’s path.

The ball also houses many of the main vacuum components, including the motor, polycarbonate air ducts and a 5 metre cable. This lowers the centre of gravity, making the machine easy to control.

Dual channel floor tool

DC47 has a Dual channel floor tool for dirt pick-up across all floor types. Two separate airflow channels direct suction evenly. The two active edges of the channels open and flick the carpet pile twice in one pass, agitating and removing dirt from deep within the carpet. The tool’s low profile allows easy access under furniture.
